Established in 1947, Hartpury College is a further education college and university campus with 3,300 students.

    The project

Markey Construction was appointed to build The Malcolm Wharton Centre, a new £2.6m, 1500 sq m agricultural centre with classrooms, offices and a learning resource centre.

Replacing temporary classrooms, the two-storey centre ensures that students benefit from first class accommodation for work and study.

Features such as solar panels demonstrate best practice in environmental awareness and the building achieved a BREEAM ‘Very Good’ rating.

Built over eight months, the centre comprises steel frame structure with brick and block walls, with cedar board cladding externally and a variety of materials used to clad the building including energy efficient glazed curtain walling.
