  • Background 

    This prestigious housing development was built by Markey Construction on behalf of HabOakus, a joint venture between TV presenter Kevin McCloud’s company Hab (Happiness Architecture Beauty) and housing group GreenSquare.

    The project 

    This £8.6 million scheme involved building 78 new homes on the of the former Cashes Green Hospital in Stroud, Gloucestershire.

    The development champions energy efficiency and sustainable living and includes allotments, communal kitchen gardens, shared and private gardens, as well as areas to encourage wildlife.

    Houses were built to Code for Sustainable Homes Level 4 with the project developed according to the principles of the One Planet Living sustainability framework.

    The show home was opened in September 2013 with the development was completed in early spring 2014.
