  • The presentation of the award was made by Alderman Sir Roger Gifford (The Lord Mayor Locum Tenens) & Paul von der Heyde (The Master of The Worshipful Company of Furniture Makers).

The judges were impressed by Premiere’s comprehensive entry, demonstrating quantifiable results on all the key qualification criteria across every aspect of its business, such as environmental impact, waste, energy, packaging, transport issues, purchasing policies, training, education and employment.

The Master Jonathan Hindle said: “Premiere is highly deserving of this distinction as it was so apparent it had gone beyond the remit, showing long-term commitment to the future and engaging its staff and suppliers.

“Premiere has come back to us three years in a row and their standards keep on rising.”

Premiere were runners up in the award in 2012 & 2013.

Some of the achievements made by Premiere that contributed to the successful entry included a 99% reduction in landfill waste during the last 5 years through the introduction of an onsite Biomass facility that converts process waste into energy, which heats the entire office & factory facility. The landfill savings equate to 2,350 tonnes per annum, the equivalent of 17,000 trees.

The on site gas supply previously used to heat the facility was removed following the Biomass installation & has provided an annual carbon saving of 1,020 tonnes which is the equivalent to the annual gas usage for 638 average sized homes.

Premiere were also recognised for their recycling activities which has seen them recycle 303 tonnes of cardboard & paper – the equivalent of 199,320 pizza boxes & 71 tonnes of plastic – the equivalent of 255,125 soccer balls!

In addition, Premiere has implemented energy saving technology that is reducing energy consumption by 470,000 KwH & 248 tonnes of Co2 per annum.
