• Markey Group success in 100 mile race

  • 24 hour race

(L - R) Richard, Tim, James and Paul race for the finish line.

  • Last weekend, on 23rd and 24th July 2016, the Markey Group were out in force as runners representing Premiere, Nutrition X and Markey created teams to take part in the Cotswold 24 Hours race.

The Cotswold 24 Hours is a 24 hour individual or team relay race held in the beautiful Bathurst Estate, just outside the town of Cirencester in the heart of the Cotswolds. The race is run over an off-road 9km mixed course including forest trails and open tarmac paths.

Team members ran in scorching daytime temperatures, and in near total darkness throughout the night. Men and women team members ran 9km circuits alone or in pairs, taking time out before taking their turn again. Grabbbing an hour or two of sleep, along with some food cooked by team mates around the campfire, meant that team camaraderie and enthusiasm was maintained throughout the event.

Each of the teams representing Markey Group clocked up over 100 miles during the Cotswold 24 Hours, many participants running further than they ever had before.

Congratulations for their achievement go to Paul Markey and Heidi Knights who ran for the Markey Group, James Markey and Naomi Christiansen running for Nutrition X, and Tim Osborne, Richard Workman, Tanya Reade, Naomi Smith, Glenn Osborne and Andy Barham, who ran for Premiere.

We’re not seeing too much commitment for a re-run next year from the teams yet, though when they get their running legs back they’ll probably want to sign up again at www.100milerun.com/cotswold-24-hour-race
